Penn Kingsmen Baseball Defeats Marian Knights in Blow Out Victory

Penn Kingsmen Varsity Baseball dominated over the Marian Knights in a huge NIC matchup. This game was a huge factor into each teams place in the NIC. The team was coming into this game with confidence and ready to take over the conference.

The Kingsmen blew out the Knights with an easy 13-3 victory. The game ended with the Kingsmen run ruling them.

“This was a huge game for us especially since it was the NIC. We hit well all game and that showed”, said Austin Eysol, a junior on the team.

Marian started off the game strong with a solo home run in the first inning. The Kingsmen responded to that in the third inning scoring three runs. RJ Cromartie hit a single which scored two runs. Hunter Morrett singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. This gave the Kingsmen fire for the rest of the game.

Evan Tuesley, a senior, went 2-3. He hit a homer in the fourth inning but didn’t stop there. In the fifth inning, alongside him Colton Hudnall drove in some runs. Cromartie and Tuesley tallied up multiple hits. They both managed two hits to lead the Kingsmen to victory.

“We were fired up for this game and we were ready to take over the NIC crown,” Tuesley said.

Not only were the Kingsmen hitting the ball, but senior Adam Lehmann pitched the whole game throwing 94 pitches. He allowed 3 hits and three runs over 5 innings along with striking out 10. Lehmann’s pitching has contributed to this team a lot this year.

“The team was just ready for this game and we went out on the field and proved it,”  Pelletier said.

The Kingsmen are looking forward to starting sectionals on Wednesday, May 24. The games are scheduled to be played at Northridge. The Kingsmens first game is against Concord.
