Penn JV Baseball Falls at Andrean

On Friday April 28 the Penn Kingsmen JV Baseball team went down to Merriville to battle the Andrean Fighting 59ers and lost a very close game by a score of 6-5.

RBIs by River Pecina and David Gurraci got them out to an early 5-0 lead.

Kyler Kazmarzski, who started this game went 4 strong innings. After that, Colton Rerrick and Emerson Cowham pitched as well.

All three pitched very well but the defense for the Kingsmen is what cost them. The wheels fell off which led to the 59ers comeback.

Catcher Cole Bennett stated, “If we clean up the mistakes in the field, we win. Simple as that.”

Andrean would tack on 3 runs to take the lead late which put them out to a 6-5 lead which the Kingsmen would not get back.

Utility Howard Samples expressed, “ Our pitchers did their job, we just have to make the easy ones.”

The Kingsmen have now lost 2 straight and have fallen to 10-3.

Penn’s next game is Monday at Marian in which the team quoted, “Should be winnable.”
