Penn High School’s Kingsmen (7-0) start their IHSAA state tournament journey at home on Friday, Oct. 28, against Valparaiso (5-2) in Class 6-A high school football sectional action.
LaPorte (7-0) plays at Chesterton (2-5) in the other Sectional 2 game.
The Sectional 2 championship game is set for Friday, Nov. 4.
Penn is 1-0 against the Sectional 2 field.
Coach Cory Yeoman’s Kingsmen beat Valpo, 27-7, in the season opener on Aug. 19.
LaPorte is 2-0 vs. the Sectional 2 field. The Slicers beat Valparaiso 39-38, and beat Chesterton 49-14.
Valparaiso is 1-2 against the Sectional 2 field. The Vikings beat Chesterton 34-13, and lost to Penn, 27-7, and LaPorte, 39-38.
Chesterton is 0-2 vs. the Sectional 2 field. The Trojans lost to Valpo, 34-13, and lost to LaPorte, 49-14.
Penn won the Sectional 2 crown last season. The Kingsmen have won 22 sectional championships in football, including the last three in a row. Penn advance to the state championship game last season, losing to Center Grove, 28-16.
Penn concludes the regular season on Friday, Oct. 14, vs. Mishawaka.
Class 6-A teams get a bye week following the regular season, and then the state tournament starts on Friday, Oct. 28.
