Penn Boys Wrestling traveled to Brownsburg for the IHSWCA Team State 4A on Jan. 7.
The team had a tough day going 1-3. They lost to Crown Point 57-9, Center Grove 49-21, and Perry Meridian 47-19. Their one win was against Carmel 31-28.
The story of the meet for Penn though was Senior AJ Steenbeke. During the meet, Steenbeke was able to complete his 100th win.
Steenbeke and Wesley Harper topped the Penn team, both winning three matches.
Against Crown Point, Penn only had two wins. Dylan Bennett pinned his opponent while Harper won on points.
Versus Center Grove, four members of the team completed wins with Steenbeke and Harper getting pins.
In the match against Perry Meridian, the team had 5 wins with only Harper getting a pin.
The team did much better against Carmel with seven of the Penn wrestlers winning.
The next meet is Regionals and comes on Feb. 4 at Penn.
