Malachi Evans: Future Success

Malachi Evans is a current senior in boys wrestling from Penn High School and has been wrestling since he was a young age.

Wrestling has been a family tradition in his family for a while. Evans’ father and grandfather all wrestled, both at college level. Since it had been running in the family, they decided to let Evans and his brother, Caleb, to try the sport.

Evans’ in season diet doesn’t require him to bulk or cut significantly. However, he is a bit under his weight class, so he has to occasionally eat more than usual to get closer to his weight class.

He prepares mentally before a match by reading different scriptures and prayers and also likes to listen to music. He prepares physically by making sure his body is loose, has good nutrients in him, and likes to “blow out” his lungs before a match. His mindset on the mat before a match is to wrestle and dominate his opponent.

Evans handles his losses by evaluating them and seeing what he can learn from then and how to improve off of them for his next match.

One bible verse Evans often likes to look at is in Isiah 41:10, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.”

When asking Vardaan Turna on what he thinks about Malachi, he states, “He’s a very hardworking guy, you can see the discipline just by looking at his physique. Once you get him up and running there’s no stopping him”

Evans is carrying out his family tradition and putting his all into it. He also placed 7th in the recent State Championships. Evans’ future with his effort can only lead to future success. Right now he is considering going to Indiana Tech for college.
