Malachi Evans: Faith and Football

Published on

Malachi Evans is a senior running back for the Penn Kingsmen. He credits his success on and off the field to his strong faith.

“Christ gives me inner peace and calmness through situations. He is a good backbone to put my trust and faith in because I know he will always be there for me. The strength and the power that Christ has helps me keep my inner peace,” Evans stated.

Head Football Coach Pete Riordan says that Evans is a great person on and off the field.

“Malachi Evans is a hard working athlete. He has been through his fair share of injuries, but he worked very hard to become healthy and he is always trying to be the best asset to the team. Malachi is not just a good athlete, he is a good student athlete with student being first,” Coach Riordan said.

Evans is not only working on his injuries, but he also works on individual improvements. He tries to balance his academics while still playing sports.

“My time management needs some improvement, I can procrastinate, I’ll be honest. Time management is more of a weakness than a strength for me. I keep my interpeace and have mental toughness to tell myself that this is what you signed up to do. There are certain things that I will have to go through in order to become successful. All things happen to me for a reason, such as bad grades or having injuries,” Evans said.

Evans is always looking forward to playing in his number one spot as a running back.

“In everything I do I try to give lots of effort. I feel like that’s the key because one person can do more than the other, but if a person does less than other people can take that spot,” Evans stated.
