Jaedon Parker: The Switch From Wide Receiver to Running Back

Published on

A couple games into the football season for Penn High school football player Jaedon Parker, and he’s asked to swtich positions, from wide receiver to running back. Parker didn’t hestiate, and took the change in stride.

“The offensive coordinator needed me to step up and switch positions and I was willing to help the team in any way I could,” Parker said.

His first ever carry at being a running back was an impressive run all the way down the field, scoring a touchdown. Ultimately, a penalty called the play was back, but Parker’s effort was still evident.

“I wouldn’t say flawlessly it has been a quick but hard transition/journey. I am trying my best by being coachable and paying attention to detail and being coached by my amazing running back Coach Griman,” Parker said.

Since that day, Parker has scored eight touchdowns in just two games. He says playing football keeps him on the right track.

“If I didn’t have sports then I would probably be one of those kids who might get into trouble honestly. I can’t stay still so sports builds me structure and character and keeps you in a mindset where you want to stay focused,” Parker said.
