Getting to Know: Ezekiel Mercado

Ezekiel Mercado is a junior who competes for the Penn Boys Cross Country team. He shared his thoughts as the Kingsmen prepare for the NIC championship Saturday, October 2nd.

How do you feel about the season so far?

“I feel alright about it. Not terrible nor superb”.

What’s your favorite thing about cross country?

“My favorite about it is that I get to compete with people and my teammates”.

Why cross country?

“I was bored and I wanted to do something with my life”.

What have you done to improve?

“I have improved by making sure I’m hitting my target pace”.

Who inspires you as a runner?

“Hudson Kaser has inspired me and helped me improve”.

Do you enjoy or play any other sports?

“Nope, just play cross country”.

Any advice for someone new to running or wanting to try it?

“Go for it, its really fun and could be your new favorite hobby”.

Anything you do before you run?

“Stretch and eat something to give me energy”.
