Chase Buckwheat plays for the Penn Kingsmen Football team. The team is sitting at 5-1 right now heading into Week 6 of the 2024 Season.
What got you into football?
“ I would say the thing that got me most into football was my dad use to play and he always said I will play it when I’m the right age and I really fell in love with it since”
What’s your greatest achievement in football?
“ My greatest achievement would probably be getting pulled up to the practice squad as a freshman and got to dress one of our games in the playoffs”
What positions have you played through the years?
“ In fourth and fight grade I played running back and outside line-backer and then when I got to middle school I and played running back now I play defensive back”
What are some extracurriculars you do besides football?
“I like to play football with my buddies and family football is really all I do I love the game”
What key role do you play on the Penn JV team?
“ I start defensive back and I think I play a big role because nobody catches the ball when they come my way”
What are your thoughts on the new head coach?
“ I love Coach Pete he is and awesome guy he use to be the defensive coach so he really knows what he is going and I think he will take us pretty far this year”
What are your thoughts on the upcoming game Friday night against Washington?
“ I think we are going to kick Washington’s butt they have a few good athletes we have a lot of good athletes I think all out it will be a great game”
What’s your next step to get better from your win against Riley?
“Our next step is to lock in during practice and act like this is another big week even though we will get this win”
How do you plan on being a key starter next year for the Penn Kingsmen?
“I plan on growing a little bit and getting a little faster the only problem I have now is I’m a little smaller than the upperclassmen but I think I will start next year”
Who do you think your biggest competition this year will be and why ?
“I think our biggest competition this year will be Elkhart they has a few D1 guys and they will have good competition but we will get the job done”
