Getting to Know: Chance Smith

Chance Smith is a well-rounded sophomore. He spends his time getting touchdowns for Penn football or running for the track. If he is not running for his team he can be found working on school work maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

 

What motivates you to practice every day?

Being around my friends every day, having my friends there helping and supporting me just helps me get through, til Friday.

 

What do you look for out of your team?

I look for just support and friendliness. I want them to push me to be my best self whenever possible so I can have a good week or game.

 

How do you handle pressure?

I think I handle pressure pretty well it usually doesn’t affect me just the occasional butterflies but usually I just use it as motivation to do better in the game.

 

When you lose a game what do you tell yourself?

Its not the last game, well unless it is, but you can always get better next week or throughout the rest of the season so yeah I’ll just improve.

 

What’s the most important thing you learned from sports?

Just always try your hardest, do your best at everything you can and work hard to achieve your goals.

 

Who’s someone you look up to?

My mom is who I definitely look up to, she’s got three kids and is always making sure we have the best and provides so much for us so I definitely look up to her.

 

What does a good team leader look like to you?

Someone who pushes their other teammates as hard as they can in positive ways and not looking down on them or treat them lower than you.

 

How do you balance sports and school?

Try and do as much schoolwork  in school, leaving me time to work on sports and any other time I have left ill fill it with homework.

 

How do you relieve stress?

Usually just hanging out with my friends, We always have a good time so it makes me feel better.

 

If you have a free weekend how would you want to spend it?

If I had a free weekend I would just spend it with my friends, or hanging out in my room.
