Getting to Know: Aiden Deal

What are you looking forward to this upcoming lacrosse season?: I’m looking forward to dominating the north and making a run at state.

How do you plan on making Penn a better lacrosse team this season?: As a Captain I plan on pushing the team to their full potential while holding myself to an even higher standard.

What is your main goal for this season?: My goal for the team is to win the first round of the state championship but my personal goal is first team all-conference and team MVP.

How do you plan on leaving your legacy here at Penn as both a lacrosse and Football player?: Since my Freshman year my goal was to help build our lacrosse program into a legit and competitive one. As for football I hope I’ve made a lasting impact and been a great example for my younger teammates such as A.J. Needham, Cal Warzon, Adrien Brown, and many others.

What is your greatest memory from lacrosse during your time at Penn?: My favorite lacrosse memory was watching Carson Bays rip the winning goal in overtime against Saint Joe to win the conference my Junior Season.

What are some of you pregame rituals for lacrosse and football?: My pregame rituals for lacrosse and football are identical. Before every game I have to listen to Through the Wire and All of the Lights both by Kanye West.

Who is someone you look up to?: My Dad, he is and always will be my biggest motivator and idol.

What is the most important thing you’ve learned from your sports career?: The most important thing I’ve learned from sports is if you treat others with kindness and respect they will trust and respect you.

How do you plan on bouncing back as a Football team, after a tough loss against Mishawaka?: Keep our heads up, work hard, and talk with our play, not our mouth.

What do you hope for the younger generation as they continue their sports career at Penn?: I hope that the younger generation at Penn realizes that no matter how talented you are, the weightroom is a necessary part of every athlete’s journey to success. Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.
