Football: Penn earns NIC Championship

Penn claimed the Northern Indiana Conference championship by defeating South Bend St. Joseph, 38-6. The Kingsmen and Huskies each entered the league showdown 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the conference.

Penn’s defense paved the way, limiting St. Joe to 126 yards of total offense. The Penn defense didn’t allow a touchdown. The Huskies scored their lone TD on an interception return.

John White highlighted the defensive effort with a 54-yard Pick-6 off a deflection by Christian Bonner.

Noah Wallis led the Kingsmen with eight tackles.

Colden Hernandez made a spectacular leaping interception.

Hernandez led Penn in rushing with 70 yards and one touchdown.

Penn quarterback Landon Hall was 13-of-17 passing for 221 yards and one touchdown.

Mason Biernacki caught five passes for 91 yards and a TD.

Buddy Hurley caught six passes for 90 yards.

Jaedon Parker contributed 59 yards of total offense and a touchdown.

Blake Ewald also scored a touchdown.
