Braden Murphey has played a key role in helping Penn make an impact on the state soccer scene.
Murphey has carved out a legacy of hard work and effort wearing the Gold and Black.
Murphey said that his favorite moment from his athletics experience was when he scored the game-winning goal against Saint Joseph on a senior night.
Besides soccer, Murphey is involved in DECA, Key Club, Freshman Mentoring, and the Stock Market Club at Penn.
Murphey said that he appreciated the advice he received from his coaches.
“When you get the ball in an attacking position, it feels like everyone is paused,” Murphey recalled being told by a coach. “The parents stand up and the bench stands up because they know what you’re capable of when you get the ball. When everyone expects you to do something you do a lot, it makes it even harder when you just aren’t doing what you normally do. Remember that and play with confidence or it’s all for nothing.” He said this has helped him focus on some important details of the game.
Now that he is a Senior, Braden has to make some important decisions.
“After talking to coaches at all divisions and levels, I have decided to play soccer at DePauw University,” Murphey said. “I will be studying Finance and will be in their Management Fellows program.”
Braden Murphey’s role during his time playing with the Penn soccer team will inspire others to work hard, play hard, and succeed in achieving their life goals.
