Boys Tennis: Dylan Albert makes an impact
The sharp pop of a tennis ball echoes across the tennis court after another long rally develops between Penn’s Dylan Albert and his opponent.
Albert’s footwork and tennis shots demonstrate his patience and his ability to remain a competitor for the tennis program at Penn.
Albert is a ninth grader who began playing tennis at the age of four years old. His interest in the sport started at home when he saw the trophies that his father had earned from playing tennis.
“I saw all my dad’s trophies and thought they were really cool,” Albert said. “He helped teach me when I first started playing and he still helps me now.”
Albert played No. 2 singles for the Kingsmen and has helped the team reach the State Finals.
“It felt great to be part of a good team,” Albert said. “It was fun to be with good competition and fun teammates.”
One of Albert’s strongest skills is his ability to remain consistent with his baseline tennis game and to win those long rallies with his opponents. Albert attributes this skill to his practice of the game.
“My baseline consistency is probably the strongest part of my game,” Albert said. “I practice those rallies every day.”
Albert’s love for tennis and his competitive nature inspire him to continue improving with the sport that he loves.
“Tennis gives me a way to express my competitiveness and passion in a sport that I love,” he said. Beyond his love for the sport, Albert hopes to play tennis in college.
“I hope that I can play for a high-level college someday and enjoy the skills that I have learned throughout my life in the sport of tennis,” Albert said.
