Penn wins 16th consecutive Sectional Crown in Boys Tennis

Penn captured its 16th consecutive Sectional Championship in Boys Tennis, beating Marian, 5-0, in the Championship match on Thursday, Sept. 28. The Kingsmen beat Mishawaka, 5-0, on Wednesday, Sept. 27, to advance to the Championship match.

A.J. Antonelli highlighted the victory with a gutty 7-6 (3), 4-6, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles against Cameron Rafinski of Marian. The match lasted nearly four hours.

1. A.J. Antonelli (Penn) beat Cameron Rafinski (Marian), 7-6, (3), 4-6, 6-2.
2. Will Thurin (Penn) beat Josh Bussan (Marian), 6-1, 6-3.
3. Aidan Sucharetza (Penn) beat Caleb Suarez (Marian), 6-0, 6-0.

Doubles

1. Eric Spaargaren/Aiden O’Day (Penn) beat Dominik Rafinski/Michael Gray (Marian), 6-2, 6-0.
2. Maity Spitters/Nick Casetti (Penn) beat Jamison Whitaker/Dustin Greer (Marian), 6-2, 4-6, 6-1.
