The Kingsmen delivered a dominant performance from start to finish, compiling a record-breaking 590 points to secure the team title and continue one of the most successful eras in program history. The victory marks Penn’s third straight sectional crown and reinforces the program’s longstanding tradition of postseason excellence.
Joshua Seluzhitskiy, Sawyer Wells and Max Barnes led the way with three blue ribbons each.
Josh Brown, Charlie Christianson, Luke Temeles and Matthew Weeks each won two blue ribbons.
Leo Ni, Garyson Wells and Seth Werntz earned one blue ribbon each.
“Overall, we are very pleased with the team’s performance today,” said Sectional Coach of the Year John VanDriessche. “However, our ultimate goal has always been success at the State Championship, we feel like we are one of the top teams in the state and we are looking forward to the opportunity to go down to Indianapolis in a week and prove it.”
Penn’s depth was on full display throughout the meet, as the Kingsmen swept (1-2-3) every swimming event and qualified two divers for the Regional. That collective eff ort fueled the historic point total and solidified Penn’s standing among the state’s elite programs.
The sectional championship continues a stretch of sustained success for the Kingsmen, who have established themselves as one of Indiana’s premier programs through consistent training, competitive excellence, and a championship culture that extends from the pool deck to the podium.
With the sectional title secured and a state record in hand, Penn now turns its focus to next weekend’s State Finals in Indianapolis, carrying momentum and confi dence into the week ahead.
