Boys Golf: Yewchuk commits to Eastern Illinois University

Jack Yewchuk has chosen to take his academic and athletic abilities to Eastern Illinois University to further his golf career.

“I really liked the coaching staff and it’s a great opportunity for me to get better,” Yewchuk said of his decision to attend Eastern Illinois.

Yewchuk said that the Penn Golf Program has helped develop his skill to be able to compete at the collegiate level. He said that Penn’s challenging schedule of competing against some of the top teams in the state each season has been beneficial to his game.

“Playing tournaments with the best teams in the state and having a good enough team to compete at state every year ”

Teammate Joel Cocquyt said that Yewchuk is a skilled golfer.

“Jack has a good short game that will help him shoot low scores, while he also has pretty good iron play,” Cocquyt said.

Yewchuk has been playing on varsity since his sophomore year as he has helped the Kingsmen go to state back-to-back seasons. Yewchuk earned all-Northern Indiana Conference honors this last season.
