The Penn Kingsmen Boys Cross Country team is looking to bounce back, after a tough couple of weeks. The Kingsmen head down to Culver Academies on Saturday, Sept. 28 to compete in the prestigious invitational. This comes after a rough few weeks of the Kingsmen not performing to their full potential.
The #13 Penn Kingsmen are going to have great competition at the Culver Invitational with high-ranked teams in the state such as #3 Bloomington North Cougars, #6 Carmel Greyhounds, #12 Northridge Raiders, #15 Warsaw Tigers, and many more.
The individual competition is also going to be great with #2 Liam Bauschke from Mishawaka, #6 Shane Conroy from Portage, #10 Max Mallory from Elkhart.
The Kingsmen are looking to make a big statement after a rough week at New Prairie, placing third behind Northridge and Valparaiso.
The Kingsmen have one of the best depths in a team that they have seen in years so if the team races well, they will make a massive statement against these big teams in the state.
In the past four meets, the Kingsmen varsity has had four different #1 runners for the team: Aiden Probst, Matt Givens, Jack Ryan, and Kush Grewal. The Varsity team is also going into this meet with all of their Personal Records (PRs) under 17:05. The Kingsmen Varsity is set to race at 11:20 AM.
The Freshman-Sophomores are looking to go back to back with winning the Freshman-Sophomore race. The Kingsmen’s top runners for the Freshman-Sophomore race are Garrett Probst, Ethan Schafer, Jackson Boyce, and John Gutierrez. The rest of the JV will be running in the Freshman-Sophomore race, but the race will be scored separately from the JV race. The Kingsmen’s top runners for the JV race are Scott Eubank, Weston St. Clair, Noah Schafer, and Luke Petras.
For the first time in Penn Cross Country history, the PHM middle schools will be traveling down with the Kingsmen and running at the Culver Invitational in the middle school race. The Top 10 fastest runners in the Penn Harris Madison Middle School District were selected to run at the Culver Meet. The middle school runners are set to race at 9:25 AM.
