Sophomore All-State candidate Caleb Coolman scored 24 points and the Penn defense racked up 13 steals as the No. 14 Kingsmen defeated New Prairie 71-46 in Northern Indiana Conference high school basketball action on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026.
Penn improves to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in the NIC. New Prairie is 3-8 and 0-2.
Coolman on 9-of-17 shots, including 4-of-8 from 3-point range. The 6-foot-5 point guard also dished out five assists and had three steals.
Penn forced 20 turnovers, which helped fuel a 20-0 run in the first quarter. The Kingsmen owned a 25-6 advantage in points off of turnovers.
Ben Murphy scored 13 points and contributed six assists to the Kingsmen offense.
Christian Bonner scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds.
Makale Price scored nine points and had four rebounds.
Cody Evans scored eight points and worked for five rebounds.
Freshman Mi’Kell Burton scored four points and had five steals and three assists.
