Boys Basketball: Coolman leads Penn past Valparaiso

All-State candidate Caleb Coolman scored 16 points and Penn scored its first victory at Valparaiso since 2014 as the Kingsmen beat the host Vikings 64-49 in high school Boys Basketball action on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026.

Coolman, a 6-foot-5 Sophomore point guard, also contributed seven rebounds, five assists and five steals.

Penn trailed 17-5 after one quarter, but the Kingsmen outscored Valparaiso 37-12 over the second and third quarters combined. The Kingsmen hit Valpo with a 20-3 run

Penn forced 19 turnovers and took advantage to outscore the Vikings 26-11 in points off of turnovers.

Makale Price scored 10 points and grabbed six points.

Ben Murphy scored nine points, and Cody Evans and Christian Bonner scored eight points each. Evans and Bonner also had six rebounds each. Mi’Kell Burton scored seven points.
