No. 10 Class 4-A Penn fought back from a five-point deficit in the final 4:30 to defeat South Bend Washington, 69-63, in high school basketball action on Friday, Feb. 12, 2022.
Markus Burton, a 6-foot-0 Junior Guard, led the Kingsmen effort with 30 points. The All-State candidate scored 12 points in the final quarter and had three clutch steals down the stretch to help the Kingsmen pull away.
Joe Smith connected for 15 points, including four 3-pointers.
Cole Wojciechowski scored seven points.
Penn (16-2) is 9-1 in the Northern Indiana Conference. Glenn (18-1) is also 9-1, and Marian (16-3) is 8-1.
