Boys Basketball: Penn lights up scoreboard for a record 104 points

Penn scores a record 104 points in victory at New Prairie

Penn Boys Basketball set a program record for most points scored in a game as the Kingsmen raced past New Prairie, 104-33, in high school action on Tuesday, Dec. 7.

Penn’s previous best was 103 points set in the 1962-63 season against Greene Twp., and tied in the 1998-99 season vs. South Bend Washington. Penn also topped the century mark with 101 points vs. New Carlisle in the 1966-67 season and against Marian in the 1971-72 season.
Markus Burton led the Kingsmen with 32 points, six assists and 10 steals. The Junior Point Guard hit 14-of-19 shots, including 3-of-5 three-pointers.
Joe Smith scored 16 points and dished out four assists.
Josh Gatete scored nine points and blocked five shots.
Joey Garwood and Dylan Derda scored eight points each. Blake Barker scored seven points.
Penn opened up with a 16-0 run. The Kingsmen’s biggest run was 28-2, and Penn’s biggest lead was 74 points (104-30).
The Kingsmen only committed four turnovers while forcing 25, and shot a torrid 58.6 percent.
