Boys Basketball: Kingsmen season ends in Sectional Championship Game

The Penn Boys Basketball season ended with a 46-34 loss to Warsaw in the Class 4-A Elkhart High School Boys Basketball Sectional on Saturday, March 2, 2024, but it was a remarkable campaign by the Kingsmen.

Penn earned 18 victories in Coach Barak Coolman’s first season, despite having no returning starters. The Kingsmen only returned 16 percent of its scoring from last season and 24 percent of its minutes played.

Finishing strong, the Kingsmen won nine of their last 12 games and ended up with an 18-7 record. The Sectional Championship loss of 12 points was the only time this season the highly competitive Kingsmen suffered a double-digit loss.

Warsaw (19-5) advances to the Regional against Crown Point (19-5).

Freshman Peyton Miamba led the Kingsmen with eight points.
