Boys Basketball: Kingsmen hold off Carroll in Coolman’s debut

Maverick Brown powered inside for 25 points to lead the Penn Kingsmen to a 72-66 victory against Fort Wayne Carroll on Saturday, Nov. 25, in high school boys basketball action.

Penn’s victory made Barak Coolman a winner in his debut as the Kingsmen head coach. Penn (1-0) hosts South Bend Clay on Friday, Dec. 1. Penn’s home court will be named after Indiana Hall of Fame head coach Al Rhodes prior to the game against the Colonials. Carroll is 1-1.

Brown, a 6-foot-1 senior, unleashed a relentless attack on the hoop. He scored 15 of his 25 points in the second half.

Senior Dominic Bonner scored 20 points, including 11 points in the fourth quarter to help the Kingsmen maintain the upper-hand.

Senior sharpshooter Trey Miller contributed 18 points including three baskets from 3-point range.
