Boys Basketball: Joe Smith’s 26 points power Penn past Clay

Junior Joe Smith torched the nets for 26 points as Penn rolled past South Bend Clay, 84-45, on Friday, Dec. 3, in the Northern Indiana Conference high school boys basketball opener for the Kingsmen.

Penn (2-0 overall) plays at Crown Point on Saturday, Dec. 4.
Smith hit 9-of-12 shots, including 4-of-6 three-pointers. He made six steals and dished out two assists.
Markus Burton, another Junior Guard, scored 19 points, kicked out seven assists, and made four steals.
Joey Garwood and Ethan Good scored six points each, and Dylan Derda scored five points.
Penn connected on 32-of-64 shots, and dominated the boards for a 45-24 advantage.
