All-State Candidate Markus Burton scored 22 points, dished out six assist and worked for five steals to lead Penn to a 73-48 victory against Bremen in Northern Indiana Conference action on Friday, Dec. 17.
Penn took command early, bolting to a 27-12 lead after one quarter.
Penn is 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the NIC. Bremen is 4-1 overall with a 1-1 mark in league play.
Burton, a 6-0 Junior Point Guard, hit 7-of-11 shots, including 2-of-2 from 3-point range.
Junior guards Joey Garwood and Joe Smith scored 16 points each.
Cole Wojciechowski and Josh Gatete powered the Kingsmen inside game with seven and six points respectively.
Penn blasted off to a 27-15 lead at the end of one quarter. Penn’s biggest lead was 27 points, 62-35.
The Kingsmen owned the boards for a 41-20 rebounding advantage, and outscored Bremen 15-0 in second-chance points.
