Dominic Bonner led a balanced Penn attack with 20 points and the Kingsmen handed South Bend Riley its first loss in Northern Indiana Conference high school boys basketball action, 66-54, on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024.
Penn owns a 9-4 record overall and a 6-1 record in NIC action. Riley is 15-4 overall and 7-1 in the NIC.
Penn trailed by 10 points in the second quarter but fought back to narrow the deficit to four points at 29-25.
Coach Barak Coolman’s Kingsmen outscored Riley 41-25 in the second half, wiping out an eight-point third-quarter deficit and taking command.
Bonner had two of Penn’s 10 three-pointers in his game-high 20 points.
Alexander Hawthorne and Trey Miller connected for three 3-pointers each.
Hawthorne finished with 13 points, and Miller finished with 11.
Nolan McCullough and Maverick Brown scored eight points each.
