Boys Basketball: Big third quarter sparks Kingsmen

Penn High’s Boys Basketball Team slugged visiting South Bend Washington with a relentless attack in the third quarter and pulled away for a 75-62 victory in High School Boys Basketball action on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019.

Penn won its third game in a row. The Kingsmen are 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the Northern Indiana Conference. Washington is 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the NIC.

Trailing 31-30 at halftime, Penn sprinted past Washington by a 28-12 margin in the third quarter. Penn unleashed an 11-0 run against the Panthers. The largest Kingsmen lead was 16 points (58-42).

Derek Derda ignited the Kingsmen attack with 26 points.

Carter Hickey connected for 17 points.

Markus Burton and Tobias Patton scored eight points each, and Evan Groves scored seven points.
