Baseball: Kingsmen beat LaPorte for Regional crown

Lehmann 1-hitter as Kingsmen beat LaPorte

Class 4-A Defending State Champion Penn claimed the LaPorte Regional crown by defeating the host Slicers, 6-2, on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

Penn advances to the LaPorte Semi-state to battle Lake Central at 2 p.m. EDT on Saturday, June 10. Homestead plays Hamilton Southeastern at 11:30 a.m. EDT in the Semi-state opener. The Semi-state Championship Game is set for 8 p.m. EDT, Saturday, June 10, at LaPorte.

Adam Lehmann pitched a one-hitter against the Slicers, striking out seven. In the season-opener, Lehmann pitched five innings of perfect baseball against LaPorte, and Dawson French finished up the perfect game in a 1-0 Penn victory.

Evan Tuesley led the offensive assault with three hits – including a double – and drove in two runs.

R.J. Cromartie and Hunter Morrett lined two hits each.
