Baseball: Kingsmen Back-2-Back State Champs !!!!!!

Penn strongarms No. 1 Center Grove to win sixth Baseball State Crown

Penn High’s Baseball Team turned in one of the most dominant pitching efforts in Indiana High School Baseball State History as the Kingsmen claimed a second consecutive State Championship with a 2-0 victory against No. 1 Center Grove on Saturday, June 17, at Victory Field in Indianapolis.

There have only been five shutouts in Class 4-A State Championship Game history – and two of them belong to Penn. The Kingsmen won the State Championship Game last season with a 3-0 victory against Indianapolis Cathedral.

Coach Greg Dikos and the Penn Baseball Program now boasts six State Championships.

Penn finished the 2023 State Tournament with a 0.29 earned-run average in seven tourney games. Kingsmen pitchers only allowed two earned runs in their seven State Tournament games combined (48 innings).

Adam Lehmann earned the victory in the State Championship Game against Center Grove. Lehmann pitched six innings, striking out 10. He only allowed three hits.

Dawson French picked up the save, working one inning. He struck out two and did not allow a hit.

Penn scored two runs in the third inning. Cooper Hums lashed a two-out triple and scored on a double by Cam Dombrowski. Evan Tuesley drove in Dombrowski with a single.
