Boys Golf: Kingsmen ready to tee up for 2023 Season

Published on

Kingsmen Golf is ready to tee up for the 2023 season. Last season the Kingsmen competed in the State Finals last year, led by Senior Ryan Hahaj.

This season, the Kingsmen are looking to younger players to step up and contribute.

Returning Varsity Golfer Jack Urbanski said that younger players stepping up will be key in helping the team make the State Tournament again this year.

“Focus on every shot and play consistent golf throughout the season and take each match and tournament as its own and not look to far,” Urbanski said.

The Kingsmen kick off the season with a tournament at Stonehenge Golf Club in Warsaw on Saturday, April 15.

Penn Golfer Joel Cocquyt said the course is not an easy one. Last year, the Kingsmen finished third in the tournament.

“With it being an open course and how windy it was last year, course management is the major key to this course,” Cocquyt said. “You can’t force any shots.”

Last year the Kingsmen swept the Northern Indiana Conference regular season and won the NIC Tournament. Sophomore Micheal Basney says he expects the same success from the team this season.

“I think going into the season we will be a younger team with lots of good players and we will be pretty solid throughout the season,” Basney said.
