Hockey: Parker Gableman quick learner as a goalie

By HAAKON RUMBLE

When Parker Gableman first put on goalie pads a little over a year ago, no one really thought he’d go on to do what he’s done now.

But today, Gableman is proud of how he went from being a total beginner to an important player on the Varsity Black Hockey Team at Penn.

His hockey journey started when his friends, who were already into the sport, invited him to join. What was just a fun way to hang out turned into something way more important for him. He loved the excitement of making saves so much that he decided to take it to the next level.

Gableman is naturally athletic and really determined, so he spent hours practicing with a friend from the Hockey team.

As the season went on, he started to really stand out.

Coaches were impressed by how much he improved, and soon he got a spot on the starting roster. His hard work paid off when he was named Most Improved Player, an award that felt like proof of how dedicated he was, not just something to hang on his wall.

“Parker started late, but it doesn’t show on the ice,” teammate Ronan Lautaru said.

What makes Gableman really special is his attitude. He brings so much energy to the team, turning the locker room into a fun place filled with fun and laughs.

Gableman’s story shows that it’s never too late to follow your dreams, and sometimes, the best experiences come from the most unexpected things.

For Gableman, hockey isn’t just a game; it’s now his lifestyle.
