Building Momentum: Girls JV Basketball Dominate Marian in Intense Showdown

Penn Girls Basketball had a dominating performance against the Marian Knights on Friday, December 13. The team controlled the game, ending with a decisive 53-15 victory. This win brings the Lady Kingsmen up to an impressive 7-1 record for the season.

Audrey Knapick led the team with a commanding 15 points, demonstrating her noteworthy shooting skill. Throughout the game, she overwhelmed the court with her offensive talent and shooting accuracy, setting the tone early on. Haven Skarrit followed in points, scoring 9 throughout the game. The team’s determination led to a 28-point lead by the end of the second quarter.

“The game was incredible. It gave us time to work on our execution,” remarks Quinn Driscoll, star sophomore player. “The team was able to work on our timing for both offense and defense.”

Driscoll, along with players like Knapick, implemented strategies of teamwork and momentum, holding Marian’s offense down while continuously putting numbers on the board. This created a comfortable lead for the team. Contributions from Easton Manton influenced the domination in the third and fourth quarters, leading to 21 more team points.

“The whole team did a good job,” believes Manton, the team’s season-leading scorer. “We used our strong defense as an advantage, getting us lots of steals and deflections.”

The Kingsmen’s defense held strong for the full duration of the game. By implementing strong defense, the team limited Marian to 15 points while creating numerous turnovers and battling every shot. This momentum is hoped to continue as the Kingsmen face Concord on December 17th.

With their record advancing to 7-1, the Penn Girls JV team is on track for future victories, as their confidence continues to grow. Each game, the Lady Kingsmen continually move upwards towards a bright future.
