Getting to Know: Chase Pinckert

Chase Pinckert is a sophomore at Penn High School. He is a member of the Penn Boys Varsity Soccer Team.

Why did you decide to start playing soccer?

At a young age I played a variety of different sports, but soccer stuck the most to me. I love the excitement and fast pace of the game. When I was a kid and started playing T-ball, soccer, and basketball, only one really stood out to me. Although I enjoyed the other two and continued with baseball and basketball for some of my childhood, soccer has always been #1 for me.

Who are your supporters that you’re most thankful for?

My Mom and Dad have been my biggest supporters since day one. They motivate me and are there for me in every step of my journey. My siblings, grandparents, friends, teammates, and coaches are others that I appreciate for having my back.

What is your favorite school subject?

My favorite school subject is history because I find it very cool to learn about the past and present of our world.

What helps you stay focused during and before big games?

Tuning out all other distractions and only focusing on one goal really helps me before games. Being calm and not worrying is key to success.

What is your favorite meal and why?

My favorite meal would have to be penne alla vodka because I love all pasta and it’s good to eat before games.

Are there any other sports you would like to be playing?

If I had more time in the spring and wasn’t occupied with soccer, I would love to try out for the Penn Golf team. I enjoy playing golf as a hobby with friends and family, and I feel that it’d be an interesting thing to try.

What are your goals for club and high school sports?

Obviously, everyone wants to win a state championship for both club and high school. Beyond that, being able to succeed on the field while also maintaining good friendships with my teammates allows me to keep my love for the sport.

What are your goals after high school and beyond?

I’ve always been someone who has planned to go to college, so first making sure that I can enter that part of my life while keeping a good daily lifestyle and healthy relationships is for sure a goal. Also, coming out of college and getting a good, stable job while being able to grow a family would help me achieve my goals.

What career path are you most interested in?

Currently, fields such as psychology and business both interest me. I haven’t really narrowed down a path yet, but incorporating business with forms of marketing and psychology intrigues me.

When you are not playing sports or in school, what do you like to be doing?

I enjoy hanging out with friends and family, playing some other sports for fun, and listening to music. I often golf and play pickleball with friends, and enjoy activities like hiking and going to the beach. Watching Chicago sports and playing card games are some other things that I like to spend doing.
