Getting to Know: Nate Zizzo

Nate Zizzo is currently in his sophomore year of high school and is actively involved in junior varsity tennis. He has developed a genuine passion for the sport and is committed to playing tennis throughout his high school years. In addition to tennis, Nate also participates in lacrosse during the fall season.  

What’s your favorite part about Tennis

I really enjoy the dynamic of the sport, I like the team aspect. 

What’s the most challenging  mental part of tennis

Just the mind game where you are losing a match and trying to stay positive.

What is the most physically challenging part of tennis

I think the most challenging part is a long match, it is hard to move when it goes to tiebreaker.

How much do you like the team?

I like my team a lot, we get along great.

Now you play lacrosse too, do you like the team aspect of lacrosse better or the 1 on 1 aspect of tennis better?

I like the team aspect of lacrosse better, but 1 versus 1 is a lot of fun too.

Who is your biggest role model in your sport?

Nadal, I really like his mentality and how he plays the game.

What was the biggest highlight of your season so far?

Definitely winning the JV invite at Penn.

What are your goals for next season?

My biggest goals are Varsity doubles or Jv singles.

Do you aspire to play past High School?

I do not really want to pay past high school, but I will play through senior year.

Any advice for new players?

Believe in yourself, never give up, be yourself.
