Penn outscored Goshen 20-12 in the final quarter to rally past the visiting RedHawks, 60-57, Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, in non-conference high school basketball action.
Goshen led 45-40 entering the fourth quarter.
Penn, which owns a share of the leaderboard in the Northern Indiana Conference with a 6-1 league record, plays at Glenn (9-6) on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024. Goshen is 4-10.
“Goshen is well coached and had a great game plan,” Penn head coach Barak Coolman said. “The key to tonight’s win was our bench. We had some guys really step up and help get us back into the game and over the hump.”
Penn’s bench outscored Goshen’s bench 24-4.
“We made some big plays down the stretch to get some stops and some key buckets that got us over the top,” Coolman said. “I’m very proud of the effort and toughness we showed.”
Dominick Bonner scored 14 to lead the Kingsmen. He also had four rebounds.
Maverick Brown and Tommy Harringer scored 13 points each for Penn. Brown dished out three assists. Harringer worked for five rebounds.
Casey Finn scored seven points for Penn, and Alexander Hawthorne contributed six points.
Penn connected on seven 3-pointers by six different players – including a three-quarter length of the court buzzer-beater by Maverick Brown to end the first quarter.
