Maverick Brown scored 17 points, but No. 13 Penn suffered a 47-44 loss at Valparaiso in non-conference high school basketball action on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024.

Penn is 7-2. The Kingsmen host Northern Lakes Conference power Warsaw on Tuesday. Valparaiso is 11-3.

Alexander Hawthorne scored seven points for the Kingsmen.

Dominic Bonner and Trey Miller scored six points each.

The game marked the return to Valparaiso for Penn first-year head coach Barak Coolman, who coached at Valparaiso starting in 2015 through last season.
