Kingsmen Athletics Review March 15-20

The Penn Boys Track Team dominated Mishawaka, 98-34. Alec Hardrict captured three blue ribbons for the Kingsmen, and Seth Jankowski, Vince Nierzwicki and Josiah Williams won two events each. Carter Kaser, Carson Mumaw, Adam Strauss, Camden Anderson, Samik Ghosh, Dillon Pottschmidt, Dominick George, Gabriel Speicher, Jason Grashorn and Mike Paquette each earned one blue ribbon.
The Kingsmen Baseball Team will take on archrival Mishawaka at the South Bend Cubs’ park. Penn will play Mishawaka at Four Winds Field on Thursday, April 22. The JV Game is schedule to start at 5 p.m., and first pitch for the Varsity Game is set for 7:15 p.m.
Penn Girls Basketball player Kaitlyn Costner has been named to the Indiana All-Star Team. Costner, an Ohio State recruit, will participate in the two-game series this summer against Kentucky. She is a 5-foot-7 guard who helped the Kingsmen win Sectional, Regional and Northern Indiana Conference Championships during her career for the Gold-and-Black.
Joe Apata will represent the Penn Football Team in the North-South All-Star Football Game this summer. Apata, a 6-foot-2, 247-pound defensive end for the Wild Bunch defense, was named to the North All-Star Team by the Indiana Football Coaches Association. Apata is a Marian University recruit.
Wild Bunch hit man Zack Messer has committed to continue his academic and football careers at Anderson University. Messer, a 6-foot-3, 192-pound linebacker, led the Kingsmen with 7 tackles for loss in 2020, and finished the season with 69 tackles.
Penn Girls Lacrosse picked up two victories on Saturday. The Kingsmen knocked off Zionsville, 9-6. Sequoia DeLeu led the Kingsmen attack with four goals and Emily Parrott scored 2 goals. Zoey Montgomery made six saves in goal.
The Kingsmen stormed past North Central, 13-1. Julianna Kirkpatrick paced Penn with 3 goals.
Cassidy McGann, Mackenzie Holland & Kaley Butler scored 2 goals each. Julianna Kirkpatrick dished out 5 assists.
