Penn Athletics Review: April 26-May 1

Penn Basketball player Jordyn Smith and Kingsmen wrestler Grace Selis were named 2021 All-Americans by the National High School Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association. All-American status is based on weight-room statistics, academic achievement, athletic achievement, leadership on their team and leadership in the weight room.
Penn Boys Golf defeated St. Joseph in a fifth-man tiebreaker. Penn and St. Joe finished with 164 strokes each and Bremen finished with a score of 297. Maddox Snyder’s score of 46 gave Penn the Northern Indiana Conference victory. Jonah Kumfer, Keenan Donze and Ryan Hahaj each shot a 40, and Jack Urbanski carded a 44.
Penn Softball posted a pair of shutouts last week.
Penn beat Clay 12-0. Addy Kois pitched a one-hit shutout, striking out four. Kiley Hinton and Abby Widmar led Penn with 2 hits each.
Aubrey Zachary pitched a no-hitter, striking out eight, as Penn beat Concord 11-0. Kiley Hinton had two hits and drove in four runs.
Penn Baseball won three games last week.
The Kingsmen swept a double-header of non-conference games against St. Joseph and New Prairie, and capped off the big week with a victory against state power Andrean.
Penn blasted St. Joseph 14-2.
Hunter Mrozinski pitched a three-hitter, only allowing two runs.
Nate Kelly, Ben Gregory and Carter Richardson had three hits each to lead Penn.
Carter Richardson drove in three runs, and Nate Kelly, Ben Gregory and Zack Messer drove in two runs each.
Zach Hoskins highlighted the Kingsmen victory against New Prairie with five stolen bases.
Ryan Plummer pitched a complete game, allowing only two runs and six hits.
Zac David lined two hits.
Penn beat Andrean, 10-4. Zack Messer smacked three hits, including a triple and a double, and drove in four runs.
Brayden Schoetzow pitched a complete game, striking out eight.
Penn Girls Lacrosse celebrated senior night with an 18-4 win against Homestead.
Sequoia Deleu led Penn with seven goals, and Juli Kirkpatrick scored four goals. Kirkpatrick also dished out four assists.
Penn Boys Lacrosse overpowered LaPorte, 19-3.
Ewan Ma scored three goals and had three assists. Tommy Powlus, C.T. Loring, Jacob Balis and Dyllan Holt scored two goals each.
