Getting to Know: Quinn Driscoll
Quinn Driscoll is a three-sport athlete at Penn – Flag Football, Basketball and Track & Field. She was named the Indianapolis Colts Girls Flag Football Player of the Year after leading Penn to a State Championship in 2025.
What got you into flag football — did a friend convince you, or were you always interested?: My Freshman year, I played PowderPuff here at Penn, and I had so much fun. It was just something I thought I would try for fun. So when I found out they had it as a sport this Fall, I was looking forward to playing.
What’s your favorite part about being on the team?: The friendships and games. I’ve met a lot of new people through the sport, and it’s been a lot of fun. The games are also a lot of fun to be a part of.
What advice would you give to younger girls interested in playing flag football?: It’s something you can be a part of at the school that makes playing sports exciting, and it’s also a fun atmosphere to be a part of.
Do you have a pre-game ritual, hype song, or lucky charm?: I don’t really have any pregame rituals, but I like to listen to music once we’re on the field warming up to get us hyped as a team.
How do you see flag football growing in the future, both at the high school and college level?: I think that flag football will grow more over time, hopefully sooner rather than later, because it’s such a fun and memorable opportunity for high school girls, and who knows, maybe one day it’ll make it to college.
Who’s the teammate that always makes everyone laugh?: I honestly feel like it depends on who you’re talking with for sure, but everyone has a side of humor and it also depends on the moment.
How do you balance academics, sports, and other activities?: It’s definitely a lot to balance everything between sports, clubs, school, etc., but because of having to balance all of them, it’s taught me a lot about time management skills, and how to procrastinate less, and to make sure I’m still enjoying the reasons I first started doing something.
What position do you play, and what do you enjoy most about it?: I’m one of the quarterbacks, and I sometimes play running back. I enjoy being able to have an opportunity to score, but also being able to pass to other girls on the team, so that they have an opportunity to score as well.
What’s one thing you wish more people knew about flag football?: I wish more people knew how much fun we have on the field, and that even though some people might not seem like it’s as serious as other sports, it’s definitely something people should go and watch themselves.
If your team had a motto or catchphrase, what would it be?: Make sure you approach every team as if their the best team out there, because you never know how quickly tables can turn.
