Getting to Know: Joey Rottinghaus
Joey Rottinghaus is a Junior on the Penn Boys’ Varsity Soccer team.
What position do you play, and what do you like most about it?: I play striker/winger, and I like that I always get to be on the attack.
What’s your favorite soccer memory?: The state run my club soccer team had when we won state.
Who is your favorite soccer player?: Lionel Messi.
What’s one skill you’re working on improving?: Being more confident when I have the ball and shooting when I need to.
What’s your favorite part about playing soccer?: I love all of it; there’s not really one part.
How did you first get interested in soccer?: My dad played a lot of soccer growing up, so from a young age he inspired me to play, and I fell in love with it ever since I first kicked a ball.
What song gets you hyped before a game?: Any song that’s calming and something I can relax to.
What’s the funniest thing that has happened to you at soccer?: Talking to our exchange student, Paulo Filizola.
If you could play for any team in the world, which would you choose?: F.C. Barcelona.
What’s one goal you have for yourself this season?: To be an important scorer and have a great post-season run.
