Avery Olsen is a Senior on The Penn Girls Varsity Volleyball Team.
How long have you played volleyball?: This is my 6th year.
What is your favorite memory from your career?: Pre-game for home games, going to Chick-Fil-A as a team, doing our hair, and having fun in the locker room!
What is one thing you have learned from your time playing?: I’ve learned a lot from playing, but think the most valuable is to play for something bigger than yourself or your reputation. I spent a lot of time playing to prove myself, but I couldn’t fully enjoy it the way I wanted to. But playing for fun, it doesn’t get much better than that!
What is one goal you hope to achieve this year?: I want to help our team make it all the way to state!
What is your favorite movie, and why?: I love “10 Things I Hate about You” because it’s relatable and funny.
What is one thing that you always do before a game?: I always put a lot of time into my hair because it helps me lock in.
If you can have lunch with any living person, who would it be, and what would you talk about?: I’d probably have lunch with Olivia Rodrigo because she’s my favorite artist; we’d probably talk about poetry and lyrics!
What’s one piece of advice you would give to anyone from what you have learned?: I’d probably say don’t put people into a box, including yourself. We’re all too unique to say we’re thing one thing and nothing else; thinking like that just makes you bitter and lonely. Be open minded!
