Boys Track & Field: Penn hosts NIC Championships

The Northern Indiana Conference Boys Track & Field Championships will take place Thursday, May 14, at Penn High School’s Everwise Freed Field.

Field events are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., with the 3200-meter relay at 5:45 p.m. The 100, 110 hurdles and 200 trials start at 6 p.m. Finals for running events are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

Admission is $6, and tickets may be purchased at the gate or online (service fees apply). Gates open for spectators at 4:30 p.m.

Participating NIC schools include Penn, South Bend Adams, South Bend Riley, South Bend Washington, South Bend Saint Joseph, Marian, and New Prairie.

The meet will feature both field events and running finals throughout the evening. Highlights of the schedule include trials in the 100-meter dash, 110-meter hurdles, and 200-meter dash beginning at 6 p.m., followed by finals starting around 7 p.m. Events throughout the evening include relays, distance races, hurdles, sprints, jumps, throws, and pole vault competition.

Fans are not be allowed on the track or football field during competition. Concessions will be available on the south side of the stadium.
