Boys Basketball: Penn sprints past Elkhart

Caleb Coolman scored 22 points and No. 17 Penn sprinted past Elkhart 65-38 in its Northern Indiana Conference opener.

Penn is 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the NIC. Elkhart is 5-5 and 0-1.

Coolman, a 6-foot-5 Sophomore point guard, connected on 8-of-15 shots, including four 3-pointers. He had five rebounds and three assists.

Cody Evans contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.

Lucas Obermeyer scored 10 points.

Christian Bonner and Makale Price scored five points each.

Mi’Kell Burton and Ben Murphy each has four points and five assists.

Penn connected on nine 3-pointers compared to two 3-pointers for Elkhart. Penn committed 11 turnovers and forced 21, leading to the Kingsmen owning a 27-8 advantage in points off of turnovers.
