Boys Basketball: Hawthorne’s 15 points lead Penn past Carroll

Alex Hawthorne scored 15 points and Penn pulled away from host Fort Wayne Carroll in the second half for a 39-31 victory in high school boys basketball. It was the season opener for Penn. Carroll is 1-1, defeating Norwell 58-30 on Wednesday.

Hawthorne scored eight of his 15 points in the third quarter as Penn expanded an 11-8 halftime lead to 23-17.

Lucas Obermeyer scored eight points off the bench.

Caleb Coolman scored seven points and John Bedient scored six points.

Ben Murphy dished out six assists.

Penn harassed Carroll into 3-of-22 shooting in the first half.
