Penn Girls Soccer Falls to No. 2 Noblesville

The No. 14 ranked Penn Girls Soccer team lost in a hard-fought battle against No. 2 Noblesville. The top 20 match-up was as exciting as anticipated, for it showcased some very high level soccer and demonstrated why both the Kingsmen and the Millers are two of the best teams in that state.

From the first whistle, the game was evenly matched, with both teams playing with much physicality and intensity. Noblesville struck first in the 10th minute, when former Indiana Soccer Gatorade Player of the Year, Meredith Tippner, delivered a powerful strike to give the Millers an early lead.

The Kingsmen had a chance to tie up the score shortly after, when junior Lexi Leader dished a beautiful pass to senior Anika Guenther, whose shot soared barely over the crossbar. The score remained 1-0 until the middle of the second half, when the Millers tallied another goal with a Diem Bromley finish, off an assist from Tippner. 

Penn senior goalkeeper Gwen Eiler made some very impressive saves throughout the entire game and the Kingsmen offense had multiple opportunities to score, but were just unable to find the back of the net. 

With the final whistle, the game concluded with a score of 2-0 in favor of Noblesville. This loss drops Penn’s record to 6-5-3, with a 4-1 record in conference play.

The Kingsmen look forward to a final NIC match-up against Elkhart on Tuesday and a regular season finale on Thursday against Goshen before they begin to prepare for their state run.
